Delicious Orchards

Delicious Orchards, located in Colts Neck, New Jersey, has a rich history dating back to 1911. It began as a small orchard on a farm road connecting Colts Neck with Freehold. The Applegate family bought the orchard in 1922, and three generations of the family managed it over the years

In the 1950s, Carroll W. Barclay, the son of the original owners, took over and transformed the business from strictly wholesale to a mix of retail. In 1959, he set up a makeshift stand by the roadside, which proved successful and led to the construction of a 1,200 square foot stand in 1960

This marked the beginning of the modern-day Delicious Orchards

The business continued to grow, adding more produce and baked goods, and eventually moved to its current location on Route 34 in 1966. Today, Delicious Orchards is a 60,000 square foot country food market attracting over 2.5 million visitors annual. It remains a family-owned business, now operated by Bill and Linda McDonald and their four children
